Friedrich Froebel — Inventor of Kindergarten
Friedrich August Wilhelm Froebel (1782-1852)
Friedrich Froebel revolutionized education by developing the first widely accepted method for early childhood education. His Kindergarten was intended as a prepared environment in which children were nurtured by parents and teachers as gardeners of the child's potential. Over the last 150 years there has been a great deal of misuse and misunderstanding of his original intention.
This site is a resource for those who wish to understand the core ideas of Froebel's Kindergarten and how to apply them to homeschool or early childhood environments.
